Ever since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Sonu Sood has played a crucial role in the rescue operations and has done a lot for needy people. Since then, his efforts have only escalated.
Soon after the government declared a nationwide lockdown, medical personnel and doctors had to deal with the risk of contracting COVID-19. They not only worked for long hours, but also faced social stigma since others were terrified of the virus. Sonu Sood then opened the doors of his Juhu hotel in Mumbai to give a place for the health personnel to stay. The lockdown resulted in job losses and food hardships.
Sonu established Shakti Annadanam in memory of his late father, Shakti Sagar Sood, to provide meals for at least 45,000 Mumbai residents.
The actor has supported thousands of migrant and daily wage labourers. He, with his team, made sure that migrants who got in touch with them went home rather than travelling hundreds of miles. He also coordinated with state governments in reuniting migrants from all around India with their families through buses, trains, and, in some instances, air travel.
Sonu Sood established the 'Pravasi Rojgar' platform to help migrant labourers find work in India. Not only that, but he also provided them with accommodation.
He made headlines for his philanthropic work last year when he reached out to migrant workers and helped them reach back home.
He is now considered a "messiah." 'Good Samaritan,' 'Hero of the Pandemic,' and 'the Saviour' are just a few of the titles used to describe him these days.
His journey from a reel hero to a real-life saviour has been incredible! Many happy returns of the day, Sonu Sood
