A Poem About The 'Unattractive' Woman

( words)
*For representational purpose only.

Thin and fragile, an unattractive thing was she
She had marks all over her face
She was weak because she succumbed to some evil people and in despair she tore her hair

She didn't go out there to retaliate because simply she couldn't
Not because she was feeble, but because our orthodox society doesn't empower a woman so weak and delicate
Despite the distress caused, she didn't curse someone so malicious and malign
A woman so constrained and subjugated by the bindings of the patriarchy has been brave and valiant through all these but capitulated to a mere attack

Isn't that a paradox? A mockery, a satire in itself?
A woman who stands strong even in times of distress and be so unmovable from her decisions just gave up to a solution containing hydrogen ions

No she gave up for the sake of the society and its judgmental behavior
She succumbed to the world where men are stronger than women, where a woman's limit is till the threshold of kitchen, where maintaining kids and family should be a woman's priority, where her parents sign a business deal and transfer oodles of cash to the groom's family for getting her married off, where a girl child is always little less than a boy child, where they still restrict a woman by the bindings of patriarchal society

It's time we acknowledge a woman's mental strength and free spirit which can emasculate any masculine strength of this galaxy
It's time we emancipate women
It's time we celebrate beauty beyond facial and physical appearance
Because it would never be enough

She was indeed an unattractive thing because she was an acid attack survivor, but she was beautiful in herself :)
